We Set Off Fireworks for the New Year

This Monday, my dad, my sister, grandpa and I went outside to set off fireworks. We were all very happy!

After we finished dinner, Dad told us to change our clothes because we were going to set off fireworks. As soon as we stepped outside, we felt a cool breeze and it was very cold.

Dad took some sparklers out of the bag. He picked up a lighter and lit one for my sister and one for me. The sparkler my sister had this time was really shiny and bright — it was so dazzling that I couldn’t even open my eyes!

Then, Dad picked up a big rocket firework. He lit it, and we waited excitedly. Suddenly, there was a loud “bang”, and colourful sparks shot high into the sky. We were startled but thrilled!

At last, we went back home, and we were all smiling happily.
